Contemporary Security Canada achieves major milestones in preparation for the Games
Eighty percent of Olympic security staff hired and accommodation secured for staff in Whistler
Contemporary Security Canada (CSC) ULC has received approval from the Resort Municipality of Whistler to move forward with temporary housing for Olympic security staff at Rainbow Estates.
“The temporary housing will provide CSC staff with a quiet place to rest between their shifts helping to ensure the delivery of a successful security workforce for the Games,” said Todd Severson, Project Director.
Rainbow Estates is an existing building site in close proximity to the venues. It is fully-serviced with sewer, water and hydro, which will help to ensure limited impact on the local environment. Pre-fabricated, modular units will be assembled on site in November and December 2009. Following the Games, in approximately April 2010, the site will be restored to its original state and regular construction will continue for market and Whistler employee housing.
The temporary housing site will include: a two-storey complex for a reception, dining hall, kitchen, medical facilities, recreation area, gymnasium, and other supporting services; dormitory style structures with multiple sleeping units and some small structures for laundry and washrooms.
“Securing accommodation for our Whistler staff was an important milestone as we make our final preparations. CSC is well on its way to being Games ready. We’ve hired more than 80 percent of security screening staff and training is underway,” said Severson.
A limited number of Games time security roles are still available with CSC, specifically for candidates with interest and experience as a supervisor or an x-ray operator. More information is available at www.hireme2010.com
In addition, CSC’s temporary housing provider, Target Management Canada Ltd, will be accepting applications for employment in the following capacities in Whistler:
- kitchen personnel
- housekeepers
- front desk attendants
- maintenance workers
Housing and meals will be included. Interested applicants can send their resume to employment@targetlogistics.net
Contemporary Security Canada (CSC) was selected by RCMP and Public Works and Government Services Canada to provide security screening services for the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver and Whistler.
