Communications Operators
Contemporary Security Canada (CSC) is seeking Games Security Screening (GSS) Communications Operator for the 2010 Winter Games. This position will be responsible for operating and monitoring the GSS communications system (radio network) within a Venue Communications Centre (VCC).
The GSS Communications Operator reports directly to the GSS Venue Manager and assists the VCC Manager in coordinating requests and or the passage of information to the GSS Venue Manager and GSS Supervisors.
DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
- providing a dispatch service and responding to requests for information from police patrols;
- processing messages and urgent CPIC file transactions using the CPIC system; and
- tracking document traffic through various communication networks.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High school diploma or certification from a recognized institution
Experience: Some experience in a telecommunications environment or as a communicator in another police department , emergency service agency or the Military.
Languages: Excellence in English (verbal and written communication), French is an asset.
PC Aptitude: Basic to Intermediate level of competency in Microsoft Office 2003 / 2007 including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
OTHER SKILLS, COMPETENCIES AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Able to work shifts throughout the Olympic Games and/or the Paralympic Games.
- Demonstrated ability to work on own initiative without supervision.
- Demonstrated attention to detail with the ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy.
- Demonstrated successful to prioritize tasks and to multitask while focusing on the immediate issue at hand; organized and composed under pressure.
- Ability to work within a team with excellent interpersonal skills
- Able to pass a Vancouver 2010 Integrated Security Unit security check and meet the licensing requirements of the British Columbia Security Services Act and Regulations, which includes a criminal record check.
