X-Ray Operator
CSC is hiring for the position of X-Ray Operator for the 2010 Winter Games. This position will be responsible for the X-Ray screening of pedestrian personal effects, goods and materials at designated venues or sites including: Pedestrian Screening Areas (PSA), Material Transfer Areas (MTA) and Remote Vehicle Screening Sites (RVSS).
The GSS X-Ray operator reports to a GSS Supervisor.
DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The responsibilities of a GSS X-ray Operator are to inspect personal effects through bag searching and X-ray machines.
Tasks include:
- Present a polite and professional attitude and appearance at all times.
- Operate X-ray machine; interpret the X-ray images according to their training to identify prohibited items.
- Conduct hand searches of goods and bags for prohibited items.
- Complete miscellaneous operator maintenance functions.
- Escalate incidents or issues to the GSS Supervisor and or PSA Police officer.
- Perform various administrative tasks as required.
QUALIFICATIONS & SELECTION CRITERIA:
- A valid security worker license (BC) or accreditation.
- Basic Security Training qualified (formerly BST 1 -2) will be highly regarded.
- Non-qualified candidates must be willing to complete Basic Security Training and X-Ray training.Current and competent in the operation of an X-ray machine within a security environment is highly desirable.
- Successful completion of an item recognition and color blindness test.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Able to stand for long periods of time.
- Able to work shifts throughout the games operational period: 22 January – 26 March 2010.
- Able to attend security training provided by CSC noting that training may commence several months prior to work assignments, including scheduled weeknights and weekends.
- Able to pass a Vancouver 2010 Integrated Security Unit security check and meet the licencing requirements of the British Columbia Security Services Act and Regulations, which includes a Police criminal record check and request for fingerprinting.
