Venue Managers
Contemporary Security Canada (CSC) is seeking Games Security Screening (GSS) Venue Managers for the 2010 Winter Games. This position will be responsible for the coordination and delivery of all Games security screening operations at an assigned venue or site.
The GSS Venue Manager will report to the CSC Operations Division Manager and to the Venue Commander and or the Police Watch Commander for operational tasking.
DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage and supervise the delivery of GSS operations at assigned Venue.
- Develop effective relationships with the Venue Commander, Police Watch Commander and the VANOC Event Services Manager.
- Ensure GSS staffing levels on Venue meets Contractual delivery of service requirements.
- Demonstrate a high level of knowledge and proficiency of Games Security screening operations required at the Venue less xray operations (familiarization only).
- Prepare daily shift briefings and Daily Venues Summary Reports for CSC and Police.
- Supervise GSS Supervisors and Games security screening operators at Pedestrian Screening Areas.
- Demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of GSS Standard Operating Procedures and reporting processes.
- Investigate and resolve any service level complaints in a timely fashion.
- Perform other administrative tasks as required
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in security or other related field and or, equivalent courses / training.
Basic Security Training (BST 1 & 2) or equivalent, as approved by the BC Security Program and Police Technology Branch (desirable but not essential)
Experience: Minimum five (5) years in security management, Venue management or similar management role in Emergency Management, Law Enforcement, and or Military.
Major Events or Olympic Games experience would be highly regarded.
Languages: Excellence in English (verbal and written communication), French is an asset.
PC Aptitude: Intermediate level of competency in Microsoft Office 2003 / 2007 including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

- Ability to manage numerous projects and/or tasks at the same time
- Ability to work within a team, flexibility in approach to work
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Able to work outside for extended periods in all weather / environmental conditions.
- Able to work shifts throughout the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
- Able to attend leadership and management, security and Olympic orientation training provided by CSC (please note that training may commence several months prior to work assignments.
- Able to pass a Vancouver 2010 Integrated Security Unit security check and meet the licencing requirements of the British Columbia Security Services Act and Regulations, which includes a criminal record check.
