Supervisors
Contemporary Security Canada (CSC) is seeking Games Security Screening (GSS) Supervisors for the 2010 Winter Games.
This position will be responsible for the direct supervision and oversight of GSS Operators and X-Ray Operators at designated Pedestrian Screening Areas (PSA), Occupant Screening Areas (OSA) and Exit Gates at an venue or site.
The GSS Supervisor will report to the GSS Venue Manager for tasking and administration, and to the PSA Police Officer for operational tasking at PSA Portal.
DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage and supervise the delivery of GSS operations at assigned PSA Portal.
- Supervise GSS Operators and GSS XRay operators at a PSA or OSA.
- Demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of Pedestrian Screening Area Standard Operating Procedures and GSS reporting processes.
- Develop effective relationships with the PSA Police Officer and the VANOC Event Services Supervisor.
- Demonstrate a high level of knowledge and proficiency of Games Security screening operations (less xray operations familiarization only) and accreditation validation process (Secure Access Program).
- Conduct daily shift briefings for assigned GSS personnel and prepare daily Shift Summary Reports for the GSS Venue Manager (as required).
- Escalate security or public safety incidents to the PSA Police officer in a timely fashion.
- Perform other administrative tasks as required
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High school diploma or certification from a recognized institution
Security Management / Supervisor course or equivalent training would be highly regarded.
Basic Security Training (BST 1 & 2) or equivalent, as approved by the BC Security Program and Police Technology Branch (desirable but not essential)
Experience: Minimum three (3) years in security supervisor role, Venue management or equivalent within Emergency Management, Law Enforcement and or Military.
Major Events or Olympic Games experience would be highly regarded.
Languages: Excellence in English (verbal and written communication), French is an asset.
PC Aptitude: Basic to Intermediate level of competency in Microsoft Office 2003 / 2007 including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

- Able to stand for long periods of time.
- Able to work outside for extended periods in all weather / environmental conditions.
- Able to work shifts throughout the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
- Able to attend leadership, security and Olympic orientation training provided by CSC (please note that training may commence several months prior to work assignments.
- Able to pass a Vancouver 2010 Integrated Security Unit security check and meet the licencing requirements of the British Columbia Security Services Act and Regulations, which includes a criminal record check.
