Screeners
CSC is hiring for the position of Screener for the 2010 Winter Games. This position will be responsible for the security screening of pedestrians and their personal effects prior to entering a designated venue or site. The GSS Screener reports to the GSS Supervisor at the Pedestrian Screening Area (PSA) or Occupant Screening Area (OSA) within the Venue.
JOB DUTIES:
The GSS Screeners are responsible for bag searching, operation of Metal Detection Devices and also for Accreditation Control via the Secure Access Program (SAP).
Tasks include:
- Present a polite and professional attitude and appearance at all times.
- Operate and monitor magnetometer devices (walk through metal detectors).
- Conduct secondary screening of pedestrians using hand held metal detection devices.
- Operate SAP computer and handheld barcode scanner; examine, interpret and confirm the validity of the Olympic Accreditation Identity Card.
- Conduct visual and hand searches of bags or other containers for prohibited items.
- Escalate incidents or issues to the GSS Supervisor and or PSA Police officer.
- Perform various administrative tasks as required.
QUALIFICATIONS & SELECTION CRITERIA:
- High school diploma or certification from a recognized institution.
- BST (Basic Security Training , formerly BST 12) will be highly regarded, may be required to undertake BST training .
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Able to stand for long periods of time.
- Able to work outside in all weather conditions, Vancouver and Whistler
- Able to work shifts throughout the Games operational period: 22 January – 26 March 2010.
- Able to attend security training provided by CSC; noting that training may commence several months prior to work assignments, including scheduled week nights and weekends.
- Able to pass a Vancouver 2010 Integrated Security Unit security check and meet the licencing requirements of the British Columbia Security Services Act and Regulations, which includes a criminal record check.
